Sunday Interlude...

It is Sunday so I did my sister's nails. I am particularly proud of her hands tonight!
Not sure if the gradient can be seen properly but I love this design. It is inspired from Cutepolish's tutorial.

That's all for tonight :-)
Hope you had a nice weekend

Still here...and interlude

Although I have not been here lately. I've not posted things because I haven't made much jewellery in the last few weeks. And when I have....I forgot to take a picture!!

Basically, I finished this temp contract which lasted 5 months: I am glad because it was sooo tiring! Straight after that, flew to London to see my other half whom I'd missed enormously: we spent 10 days together and it wasn't near enough :-(
Came back and spent some time with my brother, his girlfriend and my nephew.

Now back "home" and back on the job hunt. I did not feel like rushing to make any new jewellery as I really needed to relax and chill (which I have not really done since I have stopped working lol)

Today I felt like making a little something though and made those simple earrings for my sister:

Also, for today's interlude, I have been trying nail art in the last few weeks: each Thursday night in front of "Desperate Housewives", I took the habit of playing on my sister's nails :-) I will need to post the pictures at some point. Now Desperate is finished, but the nail art remains! Sometimes it's good, sometimes it goes really wrong! But she is nice enough to keep everything I do for 7 days each time :-) Gives me some good quality time with my older sis too!

On Sunday, I tried something on my nails: leopard print. Quite glad with the result, but think now that I should have done it on all the nails. Maybe next time...

Rings

Remember that purple ring I made back in February? As I quite liked it (that and the fact that I had quite a few of the beads left!), I made it in different colours so it can go with plenty of different outfits.

red...

orange (I used the translucent one)

blue...

brown...

...and green.

obviously...the "purple ring" joke couldn't apply here anymore.

Cupcakes

Two cupcakes I've made a little while ago (my first ones too...yeaaaah!). I picture them as necklaces. Just need to find the right chain for them.

Something different

I tried to make a pen. But then thought it needed something to hold it as well when not in use. And then thought a pen holder on its own wouldn't be nice and that I hadn't done a character in a little while.

For a first, I think it's not too bad. Of course, it was a bit before I decided to try bright colours....I already had the comment from my sister lol

Colours...and Interlude

First of all: HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY (yes, it is today in France). Although my mum won't read this, I still wish her a wonderful day...or afternoon actually as she is in another country :-)

My sister keeps on saying that my work is not very colorfoul. Dark colours being my favourites (I am sure you will have noticed), I hardly ever use bright colours. What can I say? I love black, browns and dark greys.
So today I tried to use more colours. I already know what I will make with those lentils and beads. Just need to polish them a bit and varnish too.

...now the interlude: a little thought for my gorgeous boyfriend. Him being British and this weekend being the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, I had fun lol He will certainly enjoy the 4 day weekend he is getting out of this!!

Last night...

...I could just not sleep. You know this feeling when you are exhausted but once you hit the bed it's impossible to fall asleep and you need to do something? That's what it was.
I've had this picture in my head about a pendant I wanted to make with a certain design on it. I've been thinking about "how I could turn it into a cane" for weeks and last night was the night!

So I got started around 1am and almost 4 hours later, I was done and so excited about the result: I can say that so far it is the greatest cane I have made. It turned out exactly how I wanted :-)

What do you think?
After reduction

I also made it in 3 different sizes

Miniature food

I really admire those who can make realistic miniature food. It must take so much patience and precision to do that. I wanted to try....but with the "easy" stuff lol

I made a baguette

I find them super cute I must say.

Momiji doll

A new one. I made a mini version of the ones I made back in December so that it would not make a pendant too big. I have not found the right chain for it though.

Hope you all had (and are still having) a nice weekend.

Chinese knots

I made some beads back in December for an order that go cancelled. I didn't know what to do with them until I bought a book on Chinese knots.
Decided to try mixing both and see.
Not so sure about the result though: found it nice at first but I wore it for a day and now think it needs some improvement: the knots don't keep their size so it gets bigger sometimes.

The neverending project...part 2!

Today was a bank holiday so I worked on my sister's necklace this afternoon. This project has to be my longest so far!
I have finished the white cane today and was disappointed with the results as the centre of the blue flower did not want to reduce with the other canes. I really don't know what didn't work because it is exactly the same cane that I've used in the black one.
Now that I think about it, it might be because of the white fimo I've used: half way through it, I ran out of Fimo Classic in white and used some Fimo soft to fill in the gaps.
Anyway, I can't throw it away so decided to go ahead with it.

I have finished all the beads necessary and cured them: just need to varnish them now and make the necklace. I might manage to do it by the weekend, who knows...

Here are the beads. What do you think of the white ones compared to the black ones?

Long time no see...

Yes, I haven't posted for a little while. The truth? No time and when I did try to sit at the table (without falling asleep lol), I had no inspiration. It was frustrating.
My twin has asked me to make her a ring and a bracelet that would match the necklace I made for her birthday....it's been weeks and I still haven't managed to come up with anything.

Anywhooo....I showed her a book I got and she asked me to make her one necklace from it. Of course....she didn't pick the easiest :-) I admit that project was one of the reason why I bought the book but never found the time or "courage" to try it.  And all of a sudden I thought "come on! let's try this!". I have done half of it so far and it has taken me quite some time. Let's take a look.

This is the first step: all the canes, separated...

...and once put together in one cane. (sorry for the dark but I finished it at night time...about 30 minutes ago)

I am a bit disappointed when I compare it with the pictures from the book. The leaves didn't come out as proper leaves and the orange of the flower in the middle has disappeared (where? I have no clue!) on two of the petals.

I still have to make that same cane in white to finish the project.

That's all for today :-)

Oh! and here is the book if you are interested

More experiments...

The weather was so nice on Saturday! Any normal person would have thought: "great! let's go out for a walk or a picnic in the park".Me? I thought: "great! I am going to try the resine I bought earlier this week!!". So I put everything out of the table in the garden and got started.
I bought the Crystal Glass Resin from Cleopatre and they didn't lie: it doesn't smell so waiting for nice weather was pointless.

Anyway, it's not dry yet but I was so impatient that I had to check it out lol
The pics are not great as it is clear on white but it gives an idea.

I played with glass paint and started to put some slices of a cane and then, put a flower in it instead. I didn't know you don't put a fresh flower in resin as it gets all...weird

I like this picture because it shows the way the paint turned out in the resin. Really like it.

The other pieces with the fimo in them were not dry yet so could not even touch them. I have to think of a way to mount them now. I'm thinking...pendants!

New necklace

Although now that it's done, I think I'm going to change it: not so sure about the way I've put it together anymore.

Hope you had a nice weekend (must have, with this gorgeous weather!)

I can't stand the rain, against my window...

what a lousy Sunday: it rained almost non stop. Hard to believe that we had blue sky and sun yesterday.

Anywho, here is my latest work.

A cuff bracelet (recognise the roses on it? lol)

and a necklace: this is the experiment from last weekend. I tried to make some sort of fabric effect. I am happy with the result. I mounted it on waxed cord using chinese button knots. I have also made two long beads so that it would not look too...empty, and closed it with sliding knots.

Interlude...

No fimo today BUT it is justified :-)
Since I have left my lovely Marks and Spencers' one in the storage box *sad face*, I've had to look for a new lunch bag: it seems like it is mission impossible to find one.
Tuesday I went to the craft shop at lunch time, saw some felt and thought: "I'm sure I can do this! Or at least try..."
I started Tuesday night and finished last night. In all it took me about 5-6 hours. The only thing I didn't do myself is the cutlery. I cut and saw everything else (yes, it is a muffin on the bottom right corner which needs a little more work to be done on lol)

I am very, VERY proud of my work and can't stop looking at it :-) I felt like kids when they go back to school and are excited about showing their new bag!

Here's the work of art :-)

Experiments...

I've had so many ideas this week and foolishly thought I would be able to do everything in two days over the weekend....buuuut...no!Although today has been a fimo marathon, yesterday wasn't. I started but then my sister asked me if I wanted to go out to the shops with her and I chose to have a moment out with her rather than staying in. And it was cool in the end, I had a good time and good laughs so it was worth it. In the process, I also stopped in a shop and found two great books which will help me with my projects. But I will talk about them later.

I experimented today and I am quite excited about the final results. I hope I will manage to find the time to do that this week as I am really curious to see if it will look nice or terribly wrong lol

In the meantime, just like at the movies, here is a little teaser of what I have been doing:

Hope you've all had a great weekend!

Nice weekend...

It was indeed. I spent Saturday with my niece: we had some good laughs. In the evening, we celebrated our birthdays with the family. For the occasion, I made some earrings to wear. I used what was left of the mokume gane I made last weekend. First, I wanted to make a pair of pendant earrings but when I started putting them together, I decided to make two different pairs instead.

Then, I also finished the necklace for my twin. I made some beads with scrap clay which I cured. Then I dipped them in glass paint. Let them dry for 2/3 days and...voila! The only thing is, as the scrap clay was dark, the green came out right but the dark yellow came out brownish...I still like the colour though.
My sister liked the necklace (sorry for the poor lighting. It was sunny but could not get the right angle)

The one part she didn't like was the central bead. I made a pumkin bead (from Roberta Mohar's tutorial) which I found cute, but she really didn't like it lol

I've put it in a really cute box I got (ok...ok...it is a sushi box BUT it is very cute!) which I filled with some of her fav sweets (hadn't seen those since secondary school). THOSE, she loved for sure...all of them!

Tiredness...

Sometimes it strikes you...hard! I am still in that phase which is why this post is going to be super short :-) I need my beauty sleep...or at least some sleep!

Here is another bracelet I made: yes, as well as flowers and purple, I also seem to like flat rounded beads at the moment (I have no idea what this shape is called lol)

That's all for today :-)

Oh! and in case you were wondering....he did read the blog on Wednesday and I got my belated "Happy Birthday". Men.....
